Peggy McQuaid

I am a proud resident of Albany with deep roots in our community. I was raised here and currently reside in the very house where I grew up, having returned with my daughter, Joey Morse to care for my mother.

My journey into public service began with earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Holy Names University, driven by a lifelong passion for governance and a desire to make a positive impact.

My career has been dedicated to serving the Albany community. Notably, I served as the Albany Pool Director for nineteen years, managing this vital community resource and providing lifesaving instruction (and fun) to folks of all ages and abilities.

My commitment to public service led me to serve on the Albany City Council for eight years, including three years as Vice Mayor and two years as Mayor. During my tenure, I worked tirelessly to develop and enhance programs which provided for the safety and wellbeing of our entire community.

I am actively involved in our community through extensive volunteer work, including delivering Meals on Wheels to our senior citizens. These experiences have enriched my understanding of our city's needs and opportunities for improvement.

In my leisure time, I enjoy traveling and reading, increasing my understanding of the world and its diverse cultures and history. As a dedicated SF Giants fan, I believe in the power of teamwork and camaraderie to strengthen our community.
